This vintage original poster was issued by The American Petroleum Institute in the 1950s probably for use in classrooms. Many aspects of the gas and oil industry are depicted in a single stylized Modernist image from drilling and extraction to refining to transportation to retailing of the final product. The title Petroleum from the Ground to you appears above the beehive of activity that is a microcosm of the American gas and oil industry in the 1950s. The artist’s name J. Musacchia appears in the lower left hand corner of the image and the lower right hand corner is printed 2-56 which we take to indicate a 1956 publication date.

This large poster is folded as issued and does not look like it was ever hung up or used. Overall condition is very good with just some modest handling wear.
