This vintage original British travel poster was created by the artist Gaynor Chapman and issued by the British Travel Association in 1968. Chapman’s colorful montage design features a Beefeater standing guard in front the Tower of London along with row houses, a pub, a churchyard and other views typically of English scenery all rendered in a delightful Mid-Century stye under the title BRITAIN – England is a country you’ll enjoy.
Gaynor Chapman was born in 1935, attended the Epsom School of Art and went on the study illustration and graphics at the prestigious Royal College of Art (RCA). Along with the British Travel Association, she produced posters for London Transport, Air France, Shell, BP and a number of other major clients. Text printed on the lower right corner indicates this poster was printed in Great Britain by W.S. Cowell, Ltd. and shows the document code 93/ENG/68/14 indicating a 1968 publication date.
This vintage original poster looks unused, is free of tape or pinholes and shows only the slightest handling wear. The colors retain their original vibrancy and overall condition in excellent.
