This is a vintage original poster advertising “Mike’s Closing Sale” which was an event organized in 1970 in Providence, Rhode Island to sell sculptures created by the artist Michale Bigger. Bigger was born in Waukegan, Illinois in 1937 and earned an MFA degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1968. After graduating from RSID Bigger worked for the school teaching sculpture as the first position he held in a long and distinguished career in academia and as an artist.

Bigger left Providence in 1970 to take a teaching position with the Atlanta School of Art and this poster was issued at that time to help Bigger sell his work before leaving Providence. Bigger would go on to earn an international reputation in sculpture. He spent the last 20 years of his career at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and passed away February, 2011.

This vintage original poster was issued folded and has a mailing label, postage stamps and 1970 postmark on the verso. The poster has no tape or pinholes and shows moderate handling wear, slight creasing in the image area and slight toning from age. Overall condition is very good.
