Condition: B+
Linen backed: Yes
This original and rare WWI poster was issued to recruit British and Canadian citizens residing in the United States to enlist in the armies of their native countries with the plea “BRITONS and CANADIANS Fight Under Your Own Flag In The Allied Armies Alongside The Stars And Strips”. This poster is overprinted with the address of the British Recruiting Mission in Chicago and was likely issued immediately after American entry into The Great War in late 1917. The lower margin indicates “The Crown Press, Chicago”.
This poster is unrestored and shows a small bit of paper loss confined to the margin in the lower right hand corner, toning from age and modest handling wear. There is a short tear on the edge stabilized by a small archival tape repair to verso. Overall condition is very good for this antique original.
