This rare early war United States Navy recruiting poster was created by the artist Kenyon Cox. A resolute Lady Liberty figure hold a broadsword in one hand and a scroll in the other hand imprinted “We Can Do No Otherwise”, The lower left hand corner of the image has the emblem of the H.C. Miner Litho Co. of New York and the lower right hand corner of the image has Kenyon Cox’s monogram. The bottom right hand corner is overprinted with the address of the U.S. Navy Recruiting Station in Newark, New Jersey.
This is a rare early war poster that seldom turns up. This poster has been professionally linen backed. The poster had no loss or decay of paper but it did have a couple long tears which have been expertly repaired. The colors remain vivid and the poster displays beautifully.
