This vintage original navy recruiting poster was created by the artist George Wright and issued in 1918 by the United States Navy Publicity Bureau. A group of civilian men carrying golf clubs, tool boxes and other accouterments of civilian life line up behind US Navy sailors boarding a ship. The scene is bracketed by text that reads follow the Boys in Blue for Home and Country and ENLIST In The NAVY. The lower margin indicates “Colorplates By The Gill Engraving Co. N.Y.”
This poster has been linen backed and shows some repaired wear and bumping on the edges and a lateral crease in the lower margin area. Overall condition is good.
