This striking WWI poster was created by the prolific illustrator Harrison Fisher and issued by the American Red Cross in 1918. For this poster, Fisher renders a patriotic image of a woman literally wrapping herself in the American flag with the United States Capitol building visible behind her. For text, the poster simply quotes President Woodrow Wilson – I Summon you to Comradeship in the Red Cross.
Fisher was one of America’s most well-known illustrators of the early 20th century doing numerous covers for Cosmopolitan and other major magazines. Fisher's depictions of women earned him acclaim as the successor to Charles Dana Gibson and this vintage original poster is a very fine example of his work.
This vintage original poster has been professionally linen backed. The poster showed light handling wear and a couple short tears and slight creasing is spots have been expertly addressed during linen backing. The poster was very clean and retains the fullness of the original colors. Overall condition is very good.
