This vintage original WWI era poster was created by the artist Haskell Coffin for the United States Treasury and used as an appeal to the women of America to support the war effort through the purchase of War Savings Stamps. The poster features an image of Joan of Arc clad in armor and raising a sword under the title Joan of Arc Saved France. Below her additional text reads – Women of America Save Your Country Buy War Savings Stamps.
War Savings Stamps could be purchased with small amounts of spare change and then saved up and redeemed for war bonds giving more Americans a way to lend financial support to the war effort. This poster is somewhat unique in that it was intended as appeal directly to women.
This antique original poster is on an older linen backed. The poster has a pinhole on each corner and a few minor creases in the image area. The poster has two faint stains on the right margin which don't really show much or detract. The colors are strong and overall condition is very good.
