This dramatic poster was designed for the Third Federal Reserve District in 1918 by Sidney Riesenberg, one of the most prolific American poster artists of the First World War. Two American doughboys are depicted in the heat of battle, one wounded but still wielding his Colt sidearm. His comrade kneels over the wounded man in a protective stance while firing his weapon at an unseen enemy. The image aptly captures the warrior ethos of the United States Army that no one is left behind on battlefield and inspires those on the home front to Lend As They Fight and Buy More War Bonds.
This vintage original poster has been professionally linen backed with all needed restoration and touch up completed including expert repair of a tear at the bottom edge center and a small bit of restoration to paper loss in the margin near the lower right hand corner. This poster displays beautifully with vibrant colors and is in very good condition overall.
