This vintage original and rare poster was issued by the United States Navy for recruiting purposes in 1941. This poster features an illustration of a US Navy welder at work with text that reads:
During this emergency SERVE your Country in the U.S. Naval Reserve – See the nearest Navy Recruiting Station
The document code printed on the lower margin indicates an April 1941 publication date for this poster. The image of a welder used on this poster, like many others from the interwar period, highlights the opportunity to learn valuable trades and job skills offered by the US Naval Reserve.
This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes and shows moderate handling wear including some bumping to the edges in places. There is a small nick off the tip of the corner on the upper left side and some creasing to the upper left corner. The poster shows a bit of creasing in the lower margin on the bottom edge and to the lower lefthand corner. This rare vintage original U.S. Navy recruiting poster displays very nicely and would look nearly perfect with basic linen backing. We only locate a single example of this poster at auction. Overall condition is very good.
