This vintage original WWII poster was created by the French born artist Jean Carlu and issued by the Division of Information, Office of Emergency Management in 1942. This poster was actually release twice, just prior to the American entry into WWII in December 1941 and then again in 1942 after America had joined the fray.

This poster featuring a large gloved hand turning a wrench is a very fine example of the Modernist style associated with Carlu’s designs. Carlu was a prolific creator of posters working not only in wartime propaganda but also for clients such as Pan American Airways and Air France among others.

This vintage original poster is folded as issued and shows only slight handling wear and a single pinhole on each corner. The colors are strong and overall condition is excellent.
