This vintage original poster was issued by the United States Government War Production Board in 1942. This poster features the block capital title FREE LABOR WILL WIN and an image of an American workingman with welder's visor set against a patriotic red, white and blue American flag background. The photo is credited to German-American photographer Anton Bruehl who was one of the leading photographers working with Vogue and Vanity Fair magazines in the 1930s and a pioneer in the use of color in photography. We can’t think of another American WWII poster that features color photography.
This vintage original poster is fully complete. The poster was issued folded and has some partial separation at the intersection of the fold lines and on the fold lines in places and there is a VFW ink hand stamp hear the lower right hand corner. The poster is otherwise in good shape with moderate handling wear and some toning from age.
