This vintage original and rare United States Marine Corps poster was issued in 1942 to recruit pilots and others to serve in the aviation section of USMC during the first year of American involvement in WWII. A powerful eagle swoops down, strikes and destroys a Japanese Mitsubishi G3M “Nell” bomber emblazoned with meatball insignias lending credence to the old saying about “no better friend and no worse enemy”. The iconic USMC Eagle, Globe and Anchor emblem appears in the upper left hand corner of the image underscoring the poster’s appeal to patriotic Americans to Wear the Fightin’est wings in the service – FLY WITH THE MARINES. The lower margin is printed with the production date 10-2-42 and indicates the poster was produced by the Alpha Litho Company of Camden, New Jersey.

This vintage original WWII Marine Corps poster was not produced in large numbers and is very hard to find. This poster was issued folded and shows moderate handling wear, pinholes on the corners and some toning from age. This poster displays very nicely as is and basic linen backing (which we can help arrange for an additional cost) could restore it to an almost like new appearance. Overall condition is very good.
