This poster was issued shortly after the United States entered WWII to advertise the government’s urgent need to recover scrap materials. Community-minded patriotic Americans got behind the scrap drives in a big way and recovered millions of pounds of scrap which was converted to essential war materiel. Scrap drives had the added benefit of buoying moral on the home front and giving every day Americans a tangible way to get directly involved in supporting the war effort. This poster was issued by the War Production Board Bureau of Conservation and is signed by the artist “Zudor’ in the image. The lower margin indicates a 1942 production date.

This poster is in very good condition with some modest handling wear and a small quarter inch chip off the tip of the lower left hand corner. Overall condition is very good for this vintage original.
