This vintage original WWII poster was created by Mexican American artist Leon Helguera and issued as OWI Poster No. 78 in 1943. This poster falls into the “Loose Lips Sink Ships” genre and features a patriotic Uncle Sam figure dressed in his trademark red, white and blue top hat reminding Americans to avoid casual discussions of wartime information such as troop movements and ship sailings. Helguera’s signature appears in print in the image just below Uncle Sam’s right cufflink.
This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes and looks unused. The poster is folded as issued and shows light handling wear, some toning from age and some foxing on the back of the poster not affecting the front side with the artwork and is otherwise apparently unused. Overall condition is very good.
