This vintage original WWII poster was created by artist and WPA muralist Xavier Gonzalez and issued by the United States Treasury in 1943 to help promote the sale of bonds connected to the 4th War Loan which ran from January 18 to February 14, 1944. Gonzalez’s poignant image depicts a mother comforting her young son as she looks stunned, worried and lost in thought. On a table before her is a letter from the US Navy and the simple but dreaded words Missing in Action. The poster’s title Buying A Bond Is No Sacrifice reminded Americans that many of those in service and their families had laid a much, much costlier sacrifice on the alter of freedom.

This vintage original WWII poster is fully complete and well intact with no tape or pinholes. The poster shows modest handling and some slight creasing in the image area and modest toning from age. Overall condition is very good.
