This vintage original WWII poster containing the text of The Atlantic Charter was issued by the Office of War Information as OWI Poster No. 50 in 1943. The Atlantic Charter was a joint statement by Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill in 1941 that sought to outline the aims of the United States and the United Kingdom for a peaceful postwar world. The joint statement was made before the United States entered WWII but served to formalize and make clear the fact that the United States supported the United Kingdom.

The eight key elements of The Atlantic Charter were: no territorial aggrandizement, no territorial changes made against the wishes of the people (self-determination), restoration of self-government to those deprived of it, reduction of trade restrictions, global co-operation to secure better economic and social conditions for all, freedom from fear and want, freedom of the seas, abandonment of the use of force and disarmament of aggressor nations.

This vintage original poster is folded as issued and shows only slight handling wear.  The poster has a VFW ink handstamp in the lower right hand corner and brief wax pencil notation on the verso which doesn't show on the front side.   This poster otherwise looks unused with just modest toning and slight handling wear.  Overall condition is very good.
