This vintage original and rare WWII poster was issued in 1943 and targeted to the American wood and forest products industry that provided essential materiel to the war effort. This poster features an image of carpenters building a large airplane hanger as military aircraft fly over in the skies above. The poster’s tagline “WOOD Shelters Our Planes – The Army & Navy Need 156,000,000 Board Feet A Year For Hangers” adds emphasis to the absolutely critical and vital need for lumber and lots of it.

The American War Machine used a greater tonnage of wood than of steel during WWII and even launched a special Timber Production War Project to help ensure the output needed to meet greatly increased demand. The artist’s name Rochon Hoover is signed in print in the upper left hand corner of the image.

This poster is folded as issued and in very good condition with just light handling wear and modest toning from age. Overall condition is very good.
