This vintage original WWII poster was created by the Utah born prolific pulp magazine illustrator Herbert Morton Stoops and issued in 1944. This poster is a great example of the “loose lips sink ships” or “careless talk” genre which were issued to remind Americans on the home front not to discuss or disclose sensitive wartime information. The distressing image of an American paratrooper struck by an enemy bullet is highly effective in conveying the potential consequences of loose talk on the home front. The poster’s tag line, Careless Talk Got There First, was used on another very similar poster created by the artist Ray Prohaska the same year. The verso of the poster is printed with an address panel and has a brief explanation of the image.

This lightly used poster is folded as issued and in very good condition overall with just light handling wear including a small nick of less than a quarter inch off the top margin, moderate toning from age and a single pinhole on each corner. Overall condition is very good for this vintage WWII original.
