This vintage original and rare WWI poster was created by the prolific Australian-American illustrator Melbourne Brindle for the Chrysler Corporation. This poster highlights one of the contributions of the Chrysler Corporation to the war effort in the production of marine engines for tugboats used by the United States military.
Brindle was born in Melbourne in 1904 and immigrated to the United States as a teenager. Brindle’s long and successful career as an illustrator included creating covers for the Saturday Evening Post magazine and working for major clients like Douglas Aircraft, United Airlines and automakers Ford, General Motors and Chrysler. This poster isn’t dated but the same artwork was used in a full page magazine advertisement that appeared in 1944 so thus the date.
This vintage original poster is folded as issued and free of any tape or pinholes. The poster shows light handling wear and has a small bit of soiling on the lower righthand corner. Overall condition is very good.
