This vintage original WWII poster was issued by the Office of Price Administration (OPA) in 1944 and compares the cost of living increase during the 53rd week of WWI and the 53rd week of WWII. The WWII increase was less than half of the 64.6% increased experienced in the same point of the prior World War. The poster touts the US Government’s price control program and features a small vignette of a June Cleaver type housewife raising her hand and taking the solemn Home Front Pledge – “I pay no more than ceiling prices…I pay my points in full”. The back of the poster is printed with a text block explaining that the poster was created by the artist F.G. Cooper.
This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes and is clean and in very good condition overall with just light handling wear and modest toning from age. It doesn’t appear this poster was ever hung up or used. Overall condition is very good.
