This is a vintage original WWII cardboard standee sign poster created by prolific illustrator and portrait artist Cecil Calvert Beall. This poster is one in a series that Beall did for Collier’s Weekly magazine each featuring a different medal issued by the United States Armed Forces. This particular image graced the cover of the October 3, 1943 issue of Collier’s magazine and features Sgt. Edward B. Malinay and the Purple Heart he earned for wounds received in action and Rabaul on April 22, 1942. The lower margin is printed Carey Press Corp. and “5-25-44”.
This is a cardboard sign poster with easel arm on the back that was design for use as a counter display sign. Overall condition is very good with bold color and light handling wear.
