This poster was created by the artist Alex Ross during WWII and issued by the U.S. Public Health Service to promote enlistment into the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. The Cadet Nursing Corps was authorized by Congress and signed into law by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1943 and operated until 1948. More than 124,000 student nurses graduated from the program and the program itself was credited with helping to alleviated acute shortages of qualified civilian nurses during World War II. For this poster Ross renders an image of two high school aged girls looking reverently at a confident women in nurse cadet in uniform over text that reads A Lifetime Education Free For High School Graduates Who Qualify U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps.

This vintage original WWII poster has been professionally linen backed and is in very good condition with just some toning from age on the margins and slight handling wear. The poster was issued folded and the fold lines still show slightly after linen backing. The linen backing has been trimmed closely to the edges of the poster. Overall condition is very good.
