1945 Mission Accomplished! 7th War Loan Drive Flak Riddled B-29 Bomber

This vintage original and very rare poster was issued by the United States Treasury to support the 7th War Loan Drive which ran from May 14 to June 30, 1945. The 7th War Loan Drive commenced just days after Germany surrendered ending the war in Europe thus turning the Allied focus entirely towards defeating the fortified island nation of Japan. This poster features the image of flak riddled Boeing B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber over the bold title MISSON ACCOMPLSHED! apparently making reference to the recently declared victory in Europe. We are unable to locate any other examples of this poster and nothing is printed in the lower margins suggesting this may have been a prototype that was never used in general circulation.

This poster has been professionally linen backed with some expert touch up and minor repair as needed. A short tear without paper loss of less than an inch on the right side has been skillfully repaired. There was a small bit of replaced paper loss on the tip of the upper righthand corner which is confined to the margin not affecting the artwork. The colors remain bold and the poster displays with truly striking effect. Overall condition is very good.
