This vintage original WWII era poster was created by the artist Robert Thom and issued to help promote the sale of bonds connected to the Victory Loan Drive which was the eighth and final of the WWII war bond drives from running from October 29 to November 8, 1945. Thom’s idealized image is of a US Navy sailor and a US Army soldier both smiling broadly at the apparent thought of the long awaited homecoming suggest to the viewer that buying those extra war bonds is like buying these two guys a ticket home.
This poster might be an unissued prototype as nothing is printed in the lower margins, no copies are traced at auction and a Worldcat search locates no copies. This vintage original unrestored poster has a short tear without loss in the margin of the right edge and edges bumped in places. The poster has no tape or pinholes and the colors are sharp. Overall condition is very good.
