This is a vintage original cardboard window card style recruiting sign or poster issued by the U.S. Navy. This poster features a striking Mid-Century Modern design of an Atomic particle against the background of the USS Nautilus (SSN-571), the world’s first operational nuclear powered submarine with text that reads: JOIN in the new era – atomic electronic supersonic NAVY. The USS Nautilus was delivered to the US Navy in 1955 and this poster has a 1956 date printed on the bottom edge along with “NavPers 35132”. This poster is not signed but came with other similar posters using almost identical graphics which were signed “Binder” so we are confident this one is also done by noted graphic designer Joseph Binder.
This is a vintage original unrestored cardboard window card style poster. This poster has a snipe pasted along the top edge with the address of the US Navy recruiting station in Peoria, Illinois. This poster shows light handling wear and slight toning on the edges. The colors are strong and overall condition is very good for this great piece.
