This is a vintage original cardboard standee style recruiting sign poster was created by noted graphic artist Joseph Binder and issued by the U.S. Navy in 1956. This poster features a striking Mid-Century Modern design of a nuclear powered submarine and jet aircraft with text that reads: JOIN in the new era team – atomic electronic supersonic NAVY. This poster has a 1956 date printed in the lower margin along with “NAVPERS 35051”. The artist’s name “binder” appears in the lower righthand corner of the image.
This is a vintage original unrestored cardboard standee sign with the easel arm still attached to the back. The easel arm doesn’t look like it was ever extended. The poster has a bit of light scuffing in places and moderate handling wear including slightly bumped corners. The poster has snipe or paper label attached at the center for the U.S. Navy Recruiting Station in White Plains, New York. The colors are strong and overall condition is very good for this great piece.
