This is a vintage original 1956 trolly car sign style recruiting poster issued by the U.S. Navy. This poster features a stylized Mid-Century Modern design of an Atomic Age US Navy sailor smiling broadly with text that reads support your country in your community NAVAL RESERVE. The artist did not sign this poster but noted graphic designer Joseph Binder created a number of very similar posters for the US Navy in the mid 1950s and this one appears to match his style very closely so we attribute this one to him. The date 1956 is printed in the lower margin along with NAVPERS 30260.
This is a vintage original cardboard overhead trolley card style poster. The poster shows moderate handling and has a vertical cut of about three inches near the lower right hand corner which has been repaired with a single piece of acid free archival tape on verso. The poster has a faint trace of staining on the upper and lower edges and a couple small scattered spots in the image area. The colors are strong and the poster displays nicely.
