This rare antique original WWI was issued by the New York State Conservation Commission to help promote the use of firewood over coal. This poster shows burly men chopping firewood and a woman working a cookstove with a stack of firewood behind her with the title CUT WOOD BURN WOOD – Every Stick Burned Saves Coal To Send Munitions Over There. At the bottom of the poster is printed “Pub. By N.Y. State Conservation Commission In Cooperation with U.S. Fuel Administration”

This a rare poster with only a single copy located in the Special Collections of the New York State Library and none traced at auction. This is an unrestored poster with moderate handling wear, a couple tack holes on the edges, a couple short tears on the edges and some toning from age and scattered foxing in places. This poster still displays well and is in good shape overall.
