This stirring vintage original poster was created by the British born artist Herny Eveliegh and issued by the Director of Public Information in Canada during WWII. For this poster Eveliegh renders a patriotic image of a Canadian soldier raising his rifle with bayonet affixed set against a British Union Jack flag billowing in wind with text that reads Lets Go…CANADA!

This poster isn’t dated but the lower margin indicates the Hon. J.T. Thorson was Minister of National War Services, a post he held until October 1942 so thus we date the poster 1942 or earlier. Eveliegh’s use of a British rather than Canadian national flag was an appeal to the strong loyalty many Canadians felt toward their United Kingdom ancestral homeland.

This poster has no tape or pinholes and looks lightly used. The poster has a light vertical crease that runs top to bottom about one inch to the right of the original fold line from having apparently been misfolded at one time and is otherwise in excellent condition with light handling wear and strong colors. Overall condition is very good plus from this hard to find vintage original Canadian WWII poster.
