This poster was created for the Navy Department Incentive Division by the artist John Falter. A craggy faced Admiral William Halsey exudes confidence as he drops his binoculars to get a good look at something surrounded by vignettes of battle scenes titled Hit Hard!, Hit Fast! and Hit Often! above the bold tag line “Produce for your Navy – VICTORY BEGINS AT HOME”. This poster would have been used mostly in factories to motivate wartime workers on the Home Front. Admiral Halsey commanded the Third Fleet in the Pacific during WWII and was one of only three men to rise to the rank of Fleet Admiral, the U.S. Navy’s highest rank.
The lower margin indicates “Einson-Freeman Co., Inc. L.I. City, N.Y.” and “Incentive Division, Navy Department – OC-4-35M”. This poster is a vintage original in very good condition overall with just modest handling wear and light toning from age. This poster was issued folded and will be shipped that way.
