This vintage original and rare WWII poster was created by the artist Theodore Geisel who would become the illustrious children’s book writer and illustrator loved by millions known as Dr. Suess. The poster features the Squander Bug propaganda character which was first developed in the UK by Phillip Boydel for the British National Savings Committee to discourage wasteful spending and unnecessary consumption. Geisel’s Squander Bug character is drawn in his instantly recognizable Dr. Suess style and differs quite a bit from the original British Squander Character.

This poster isn’t dated but we believe was issued mid-war, probably in 1943. This poster has been professionally linen backed and some wear on the edges expertly addressed. The poster shows some modest toning from age and displays wonderfully. Overall condition is very good.
