This vintage original poster was issued by the National War Fund which was organized in 1943 to finance the USO and about 20 other WWII era overseas war appeals including relief for prisoners of war. The poster features an idealized view of a strapping US Army solider and woman in a Navy Waves uniform smiling broadly and bracketed by text that reads USO above them and “Until their home” below them. During WWII some 1.5 million people volunteered in one way or another for the USO which provided a “home away from home” for US military personnel serving overseas. The artist Hayden Hayden, whose real name was Howard Crosby Renwick, was a prolific illustrator known for his frequent use of GGA (Good Girl Art) who produced covers for several major American magazines and created advertising for Coca-Cola, the Willys-Knight automobile company, Arrow Shirts and other major clients.

This poster moderate handling wear including a lateral crease across the poster and some toning or darkening to the bottom two inches or so. The poster still displays nicely and is in very good condition overall. Please see our other listings for more posters from this National War Fund series.
