This vintage original WWII poster was created by Nebraska born artist John Falter and issued by the United States government in 1942. For this poster Falter renders an image of an American family and a priest literally backed up and cowering against a brick wall. The shadow of a thuggish enemy brute raising a whip portends a possible dark future for humanity. For the text across the top, The World Cannot Exist Half Slave And Half Free, Falter draws inspiration from Abraham Lincoln’s House Divided Speech. Text across the bottom drives home the poster’s message – Fight For Freedom!
This vintage original poster was issued folded and is in very good condition overall with just light handling wear and modest toning from age. The poster has about an inch of separation at the right edge on the center lateral fold line and another small nick of less than a quarter inch just above. The poster has no tape or pinholes and overall condition is very good.
