This is an original antique 1898 broadside poster for an “Illustrated Lecture” on Alaska and the Klondike Gold Fields. The lower margin indicates this poster was issued by Sears, Roebuck & Company which presumably sold the magic lantern slides and talking machine recording that were used to put on the illustrated lecture on the Alaska and the Klondike Gold Fields. There is a place at the bottom of the poster to write in the price of admission and other information. We presume this poster was sold or given away by Sears, Roebuck & Co. to those that offered the exhibition probably in music halls, variety halls, carnivals and other entertainment venues of the late 19th century. The upper left hand corner is printed “4-28-98” which I take to indicate an 1898 publication date for this antique original.
This poster is antique original new old stock in excellent condition with just some modest toning from age, a lateral fold, light handling wear and slight creasing to the corners. Email any questions. Thanks for looking.
