This original antique poster was issued by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee of London as Poster No. 85 in 1915.  This poster promoted both enlistment in the British Army and also employment in the vital industries producing wartime munitions and materiel.   This poster depicts a British solider shaking hands with an industrial worker backed by a scene of British factories transitioning to an artillery piece fighting in the war bracketed by the title: 

We’re both needed to serve the guns!  FILL UP THE RANKS! PILE UP THE MUNITIONS! 

This poster is on an older linen backing with wooden dowels attached on the top and bottom edges that appear to be original to when the poster was issued originally in 1915.  The wooden dowel on the lower edge covers text printed in the lower margin indicating this poster was printed by Chorley and Pickersgill Ltd. of Leeds and London but could be easily removed. The poster shows some small abrasions and light lateral creasing in places and some toning from age.  There is a short split of about two inches just below the dowel on the upper left edge.  Overall condition is very good for the original antique British WWI poster.
