This original and rare antique WWI poster was created by the artist Gordon Grant for the American Red Cross and issued in 1918. This poster was part of the Red Cross effort that provided thousands of Public Health Nurses to help battle the Spanish Influenza pandemic that ravaged America and the wider world beginning in early 1918. Grant who was mostly known as maritime painter also produced posters for the war effort and for the Boy Scouts of America. This is one of his rarest posters which we’ve never had before.
This poster looks pretty well unused with just light handling wear. The poster has a tear of about an inch on the right edge and a another tear of about a half inch on the left edge both without paper loss and both repaired by the application of a small single piece of acid free archival repair tissue to verso. Overall condition is very good.
