This is a vintage original poster from Herbert Hoover’s successful 1928 presidential campaign. This horizontal format poster features jugate photographic portraits of Hoover and his vice presidential running mate Charles Curtis who was enrolled as a member of the Kaw Nation of Kansas and the first native American to serve in the United States Congress and the only native American so far to serve as Vice President. The portraits of both candidates have copyrights by the venerable Washington D.C. photography studio of Harris & Ewing. An Allied Printing Trades union emblem is printed at the bottom center of the poster.
This vintage original poster shows moderate handling wear and some toning from age. The poster had a small bit of paper loss to the lower right corner area which was repaired with a single piece of paper tape applied to the back of the poster. The paper loss touched the bottom of the “U” and “R” in Curtis’s name and that small area was touched up with what looks like black felt tip marker. The poster displays nicely and overall condition is very good.
