This is a vintage original window card style poster used to promote a piano concert by Ignacy Jan Paderewski at the University of Nebraska Coliseum in Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday, April 17th, 1931. This is a window card style poster printed one side only on lightweight cardboard. This poster features a well known portrait illustration of Paderewski and prints the names of the concert sponsors, Steinway Pianos and Victor Records, in the lower corners. The concert promoter’s name appears at the bottom of the poster as “Direction George Engles 711 Fifth Avenue New York City” and the lower margin indicates the printer as Hegeman Print N.Y.
Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860 - 1941) was a Polish pianist, composer, statesman and spokesman for Polish independence. In 1919, he was the nation's prime minister and foreign minister during which time he signed the Treaty of Versailles, which ended World War I. This window card poster is an original from Paderewski’s one night performance at the University of Nebraska in 1931. This window card poster shows a slight crease along the lower right side and is otherwise in very good plus condition with just light handling wear and slight toning from age. Overall condition is very good.
