This rare vintage original poster was issued by the US Navy in 1932 for recruiting purposes. The poster features artwork showing a US Navy sailor in the War of 1812 along with an image of modern naval personnel with a title that reads:
The Valiant Spirit Of Our Navy Makes Better Americans – Enlist and Be One
The artwork shows the dates 1812 and 1932 and the lower margin is printed “5-6-32” so thus the date. Also printed in the lower margin is text that reads “Compliments to H. Reuterdahl, Del. By J.W. Burbank” with this being a reference to acclaimed Swedish-American painter Harry Reuterdahl who had designed several WWI era posters for the US Navy.
This is a rare poster as far fewer posters were produced during the interwar period than during WWI or WWII. This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes and just light handling wear including edges slightly bumped places and a small corner crease on the tip of the lower lefthand corner. This poster also has a small dime size spot near the lower right hand corner. Overall condition is very good.
