This vintage original German travel poster featuring composer Richard Wagner was issued in 1933. 1933 was the 50th anniversary of Wagner’s death and this poster indicates 1933 and “Richard Wagner Year” so presumably was issued in conjunction with the Wagner celebrations in Germany that year. The poster features a bust of Wagner created by the artist Lorenz Gedon and has English language text indicating the address of the German Tourist Information Office in New York City. The lower margin also indicates “Published by the Reichsbahnzentrale für den Deutschen Reiseverkehr, Berlin”.

This vintage original poster shows moderate handling wear and has a couple short tears without paper loss on the edges including a tear of about two inches on the left edge. The right edge is bumped near the lower corner and has some edge creasing, a couple short tears and a spot with less and half centimeter of contact surface paper loss. A small piece of acid free paper archival tissue was applied too the back of the poster along the edge to stabilize this area of the poster. The poster displays well and could look almost like new with simple linen backing and touch up.
