This vintage original window card style poster was created by the beloved American artist Newell Convers “N.C.” Wyeth and issued by the American Red Cross during the early days of The Great Depression.
Wyeth renders an image of Red Cross flags billowing defiantly in the wind against ominous cumulonimbus thunderclouds blocking out a distant Sun. This poster was issued in 1933 and the image symbolizes the resilience of the Red Cross during the national crisis created by the economic upheaval of The Great Depression. On this poster the word “Join!” is printed in the lower righthand corner and another variant of the poster was issued using the word “Give!” instead. Wyeth’s name appears in print in the lower lefthand corner of the image.
This is a window card style poster printed one side only on cardboard. This poster looks unused and is in excellent condition with just the slightest of handling wear and modest toning on the margins. Overall condition is excellent.
