This vintage original poster promoting Stockholm as a travel destination was created by the Swedish artist Iwar Donnér and issued in 1936.  For this poster Donnér renders an Art Deco style image of Stockholm’s iconic red brick City Hall Tower on the eastern tip of Kungsholmen island. This historic landmark building serves as the venue for the Noble Prize banquet and is one of the city’s major tourist attractions as well as being the seat of government for Sweden’s largest city.   The Tre Kronor or Three Crowns that top of the building serve as the Swedish national coat of arms and a famous silhouette on the city’s skyline.

The lower margin indicates this poster was issued by the Swedish Traffic Association of Stockholm and printed in Sweden.  The lower left corner shows the printer as Centraltr., Esselte, Sthlm and the number 36 for 1936.

This vintage original poster has been professionally conservation mounted to linen.   A few short tears small nicks and chips on the edges were expertly repaired during the linen backing process. The original colors are retained the poster displays beautifully.  Overall condition is very good.
