This poster, created by the artist R. John Holmgren, is one in the “Loose Talk” series of posters issued by the British and American Ambulance Corps, Inc. during WWII. This poster depicts an image of an American soldier trying to impress a young lady by blabbing war secrets. Next to them on a park bench sits a cartoonish Hitler figure with a freakishly large ear listening intently to every word above the title LOOSE TALK COSTS LIVES.
The lower left hand corner has a 1942 copyright and Holmgren’s signature appears in print on the right edge. The lower margin is printed “Distributed In The Interest Of National Defense And As A Means Of Obtaining Funds For Ambulances Wherever Needed. British And American Ambulance Corps, Inc. 420 Lexington Avenue, New York City”.
This vintage original poster is lightly used with light handling wear including edges slightly bumped in spots and a single pinhole on each corner. The colors are sharp and overall condition is very good.
