This small format poster was created by the artist Garrett Price (1896-1979) and issued by the United States War Production Board in 1942.  For this poster Price renders an image of a muscular steelworker pouring a ladle of molten steel which transforms into a seemingly endless convoy of bombers, warships and tanks speeding to the warfront.  Garrett Price grew up in rural Wyoming as the son of a horse-and-buggy doctor and went on to study at the Art Institute of Chicago.  He is most remembered today as major contributor to The New Yorker magazine for which he illustrated some 100 covers and provided hundreds of cartoons.  The War Production Board was established by President Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9024 in January 1942 and was primarily responsible for converting America’s industrial manufacturing sector to the production and distribution of essential war materiel.

This is the small format for this poster measuring about 7” x 10”.   This vintage original poster is free of tape or pinholes and shows light handling wear including slight bumping to the lower right corner and a tiny microtear on the tip of the upper right corner.   Overall condition is very good.
