This vintage original poster was issued by the United States War Production Board in 1942 to help combat absenteeism in the workplace particularly with jobs producing critical munitions and warfighting materiel.   The poster’s simple but dramatic and effective design uses the military term A.W.O.L. (Absent Without Leave) to connect factory workers on the home front to those on active duty fighting on foreign shores with text that reads:

WHEN YOU’RE A.W.O.L. YOU’RE WORKING FOR THE AXIS

The lower margin indicates a 1942 publication date and the War Production Board eagle insignia is printed on the lower right corner.   This vintage original poster is free of tape or pinholes and folded as issued.  The poster shows light to moderate handling wear.   There are two small square dark spots on the back of the poster, neither of which show on the front side, where it looks like a label was attached at one time.   Overall condition is very good for this vintage WWII era original.
