This vintage original WWII poster was created by the prolific and beloved American illustrator Norman Rockwell and issued in 1942 as one of the posters in the United States Army Department of Ordnance’s Keep ‘Em Shooting campaign.
For this poster Rockwell departs from his traditional folksy depictions of every day American life and instead depicts a battle hardened American GI in tattered fatigues firing a Browning M1917 machine gun at an unseen enemy. These posters would have been used primarily in ordnance factories so the poster’s tag line, Let’s give him Enough and On Time, was an appeal directly to those working around the clock to help supply the American War Machine.
This vintage original poster has been professionally backed to linen with some touch up and small repair as needed. The poster had a nick off the margin on the upper left corner which has been replaced. Small areas of separation on the fold lines have been skillfully repaired during the linen backing process. A small bit of paper loss in the margin along top edge near the right corner (not affecting the image area) has been restored. The colors remain strong and the poster is otherwise in very good condition overall. Contact us for more information or photos as needed.
