This vintage original WWII poster was created by the artist Seymour R. Goff, who uses the pseudonym Ess-ar-gee, and issued by the House of Seagram distillery “as part of its contribution to the National Victory Effort”.

For this poster Goff renders an image of Uncle Sam pointing directly at the viewer, seemingly inspired by James Montgomery Flagg’s iconic I Want Your For The U.S. Army WWI poster, and giving the simple admonishment No Room For Rumors.  Posters of this type remined Americans on the home front that spreading idle gossip and rumors involving vital wartime information could benefit the enemy and damage morale. The use of Uncle Sam imagery added patriotism as another way of enhancing effectiveness and driving home the poster’s message.

This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes and shows just light handling wear including slight bumping and couple small nicks on the top and bottom edges. The poster otherwise looks pretty well unused with original strong color retained. Overall condition is very good.
