This vintage original poster is one of several created for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway by the Mexican American artist Hernando Gonzallo Villa (1881-1952). For this poster Villa renders an image of a Southwestern cowboy in chaps engaged in a friendly chat with a lady that looks like a tourist. Villa was born in Los Angeles to an artistic family and studied at the Los Angeles School or Art & Design. Villa is most remembered today for the artwork he created over a period of about 40 years for the Santa Fe Railway but he also produced murals for the Rialto Theater in Phoenix and a gold medal winning mural for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco.
This vintage original poster has been professionally conservation mounted to linen and is in excellent condition overall.
