This Mid-century travel poster was created for the National Tourist Organization of Greece in 1953 and features an image of the Greek island of Mykonos taken by Voula Papaioannou who was one of the most important Greek photographers working during the WWII era and the Post-War period in the Social Documentarian tradition. The image features a view of the white rooftops against the Aegean Sea with the photo credit to Papaioannou printed in the lower right hand margin above the title Island of Myconos, an alternate of the more common spelling of Mykonos. The lower margin indicates
“No. 10 - 10,000 – June 1953. Edited By The Tourist Organization” and “Printed In Greece By “The Phoenix” Co. Ltd Athens”
This vintage original poster is very clean, was never hung and has no tape or pinholes. Overall condition is excellent.
